Just every bit the title says, do I need a championship for a boat trailer in KY? I know I need ane for the boat, but what about the trailer. From what I have read it sounds like you only need to register a trailer if you go out of state. But what about the title?

Hmmmm I had to title my Ranger bass boat trailer here in Henderson. Information technology doesn't take to be licensed but I did accept to title it.

Thank you for the quick responses. I'm looking for a minor line-fishing boat and I have been talking to a guy that has a gunkhole for sale but he says he don't even have a title for the boat, so that'due south a no go. Why is it so difficult to get a championship for a gunkhole? I mean if I have a receipt of purchase from an individual I would recall it would be pretty like shooting fish in a barrel.
The whole "if you own it for 5 years" is a agglomeration of BS. At that place has got to exist a better way to get a duplicate or replacement championship. I believe if you lot have the receipt, you can do a pencil scratch of your hull number on the back and accept it to your canton clerks role and they can transfer it that way. At to the lowest degree that is my agreement of what I was told.

That'south what I idea, merely i called my county role and the dainty lady told me I need the championship. I told her what I was doing, buying a boat on Craigslist and she said I would demand the championship. She said she had the same problem when she bought a boat off CL. I think I volition just look at boats with a title. I really dont want to get myself into a situation where I deceit apply the boat for five years. I saw the thread from about a month agone and information technology was almost fifty/50 with people saying they got a duplicate title no problem and virtually the other half said it was a big PITA. Oh, and I forgot to mention the boat is in Indiana. I don't know if that would make a deviation or not. Anyway, thanks for the replies.

I take a boat that I have no title for the trailer and I don't plan on it, either. They've never said a discussion to me almost it. The gunkhole that I bought in 2008 has a title for information technology'southward trailer, nonetheless.
Yous don't need a license plate for the trailer unless you are planning on taking it out of state.

If he has no title u tin can do an affadavit and make a new one at the court house. I know my last boat the trailer was taxed seperate but I dont think having a title for information technology.

they told me i didnt take to have anything for mine cause of the size that it is. they said if i am taking information technology out of state then they tin give me a tag just if its just in state stuff i dont need anything. i sure liked it in pa yous gotta have tag title and reg. for the stupid thing. its just a 6X10.

Mine doesnt' have a title and I was pulled over with information technology in Florida in 07 for no lights. I merely told him Ky doesnt' require a title and hooked the lights upward and was on my way.
